I need someone to code and illustrate a Flash application that can be embedded into a website. It should have a somewhat cartoony / Mii (Nintendo Wii) feel, but on a more serious-level... like Yahoo Avatars.
Yahoo Avatars is the best example:
http://avatars.yahoo.com/
- Other examples:
* http://www.stortroopers.com/
* http://www.myplay.com.tw/
* http://www.weeworld.com/
* http://www.joystiq.com/media/2006/10/mii.swf
Yahoo Avatars is the best example because they have a "real" feel to the illustrations. You know that it's not trying to be photo-realistic, but still makes-sense to look at.
This project is for a HEALTH site for people. We are looking to outline common characteristics of the human body for this purpose. These avatars must not be pornographic or sexual in any way.... however they MUST be naked (not-clothed, no underwear) for obvious reasons, with an option to add "fig-leaves" over genitals and breasts. People will be describing and picturing their bodies as best they can, so please keep in mind that we're going to allow people to customize everything, including muscles, tattoos, breasts, facial hair, hairstyle, foot-size, everything. However, from an illustrational point of view, we're pretty much just talking about changing the darkness of a shadow created by a muscle, the placement of a tattoo (if any), length of hair, etc. Some features will be harder to illustrate, some will be easier.
The graphics will be 2D and have a cartoon feel, while not sacrificing anatomical accuracy or becoming too fake. We should be able to develop some sort of framework for scaling things like arms and legs, shapes of the stomach, etc. Avatars will be available from 4 different views... front, back, left, right. No top or bottom view, just horizontal rotation.
Like I said, this should be done in flash most-likely. However, the images must be able to be either outputted in PNG format afterward for caching. Additional Info (Added 8/21/2008 at 13:55 EST)...There will be no "dragging-and-dropping" or anything in the Flash program, just sliders to customize various features, checkboxes for "on/off" settings, and thumbnails of various hairstyles, etc.
